GEORGE W. GORE/THOMAS J. CRAWFORD
UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Two scholarship awards of $2000 each will be presented annually on a competitive basis to an active Alpha Kappa Mu member. This scholarship is named to honor Dr. George W. Gore, Jr., Founder and Thomas James Crawford, Executive Secretary-Treasurer.
Criteria for Selection
- Active membership in Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society
- Demonstrated scholarship
Policies and Procedures
- All completed applications, official transcripts, and letters of recommendation should be submitted to the following Gmail account ([email protected]) on or before February 15.
- It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that an official transcript of academic records through the fall term is available to the chapter advisor for submission to the Alpha Kappa Mu Awards Committee.
- Official transcripts must include grades through the fall term of the academic year.
- Scholarly Statements- Scholars will submit two statements on the online application.
- 1- Academic and/or career goal statement—The personal statement should speak to the applicant’s academic and/or career goals and
- 2- A brief discussion of the applicant’s service to and for AKMu.
- Evaluation of applications will be on the point system. Awards will be made at the discretion of the Awards Committee.
- Winners will be announced at the Regional or National Meeting and in the Alpha Kappa Mu Newsletter.
- Winners of the awards are asked to be present at the Meeting in order to be photographed while accepting the award.

GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Two scholarship awards of $1000 each will be presented annually on a competitive basis to an active Alpha Kappa Mu member. This scholarship is named to honor Dr. Mollie B. Brown, National Executive Secretary-Treasurer, and Dr. Ann W. Morris, Executive Secretary-Treasurer Emeritus.
Criteria for Selection
- Active membership in Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society
- Current graduate or professional student
- Demonstrated scholarship

Winners are announced at the regional meetings, biennial conventions, and in the AKM Newsletter. Commemorative plaques are also awarded.

Outstanding Advisor Award
It is the hope of the National Officers that the chapter advisors perform their duties and follow through with their responsibilities for the single purpose of helping to maintain Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society as a highly meaningful and viable organization.
